About the Desk

We are a small editorial team based in downtown Kota Kinabalu. Our desk sits a short walk from Bandaran Berjaya, the waterfront and the market lanes we write about. We gather notes on foot, talk with people who live and work here, and shape each piece into a practical guide you can use on the same day.

What we cover

Who writes

A compact team of writers and editors. Some of us grew up here; some arrived for a season and stayed. We all spend time in the neighbourhoods we cover. We share drafts, check facts against local sources, and keep our language plain.

How an article is made

A piece begins with a walk. We note opening hours, prices, routes, and the small things that change a visit: where the shade falls, which stall fills first, when the ferry queue shortens. We take photos where we can. Back at the desk, we draft in short, clear sentences, then edit for rhythm and usefulness. We date each article and revisit it on a schedule. When something shifts, we update the page.
